Using eBURSTv3 standalone.

Launching eBURSTv3 standalone:

When eBURSTv3 is initially downloaded and installed a shortcut icon will be placed on your desktop (Windows) - clicking this will launch eBURST as a standalone application.

Loading data:

On startup a blank Profiles window will be displayed allowing you to load your data through the Profiles menu. To load a single dataset select ‘Open Ref’ and browse to your correctly formatted text file. To load a query dataset to compare against your reference dataset select ‘Open Query’ after your reference data is loaded. Once data are loaded you may progress with analysis as above (See section 8). Prior to loading subsequent datasets it is advisable to clear all data from within eBURST by selecting the ‘Clear Data’ option from the Profile menu.

Changing the number of loci:

You may wish to analyse data that contains a differing number of loci to the mlst default of 7. While this can be achieved by uploading data to the eBURST website you can also change the number of loci by selecting ‘Edit Loci Number’ in the Analysis menu

Differences when using standalone eBURSTv3:

Database connectivity is disabled by default for standalone eBURST useage as data of different origins can be analysed without a corresponding database being available. Should you with to utilise the database functionality within eBURST we recommend that you launce BURST from within the organism-specific mlst website or from the ‘MLST datasets’ section found here.

eBURSTv3 has been developed and is hosted at Imperial College London
